Why the Glimmers of Economic Recovery Mean Its Time to Check Your Business Marketing Plan

Economic Recovery
Economic Recovery

No one can predict the future. The following is my opinion. My advice might even be a tad suspect as I’m a marketing person recommending that you renew your business marketing plan. But I’ve been through two recessions now, and I’ve seen how people handle their marketing during a down market and many of them hold off and postpone new marketing way too long.

I’m writing lots of proposals right now for people who are due to refresh their marketing. Some of them have a website but they know its out of date and they need a new one. Others have no online marketing…no blog, no Google Ads, no Facebook page or other social media and they know their business needs them to commit to online marketing in order to grow and expand.

I think these business people are right on target. It’s a perfect time to reconnect, renew and recommit to your marketing efforts.

On the one hand, we are two years into a recession. Marketing money is harder to come by then ever for many businesses. Many/most small businesses or medium size businesses, have lost a lot of money and find it hard psychologically to commit to investing into marketing.

But what I’m pointing out is that we are in an upswing of economic recovery. We don’t know how quickly or exactly how big the rebound will be, but we know its coming. This is a good time to work on your marketing, as you’ll be in a great position to take advantage of the economic recovery. Many will wait until the recovery is complete and they know people are in an expansive…yes, I said expansive…business growth mood again.

Don’t wait to renew your business marketing plan until the market is showing all signs of recovery. Starting sooner will give you a bigger return for your money.

If you are due for a marketing refresh, new website or to start planning your online marketing–do it now–so you’ll be ready. Be ready for the big surge of pent up demand and the first 6 months of the recovery.
